Hall at St. John's that it would be the perfect venue for this collection and am so grateful to the school for allowing me to make this grandiose idea a reality. It was an amazing way to deal with the parallels between how I felt at St. John's and how I feel in the fashion industry. Joys (and sorrows) of experiential learning. Looking back at the first collection, I did so many things wrong, even though at the time I thought I was on top of the world. I learn by doing. As a kid wanting to start a fashion business without any real experience in the industry, I decided to just go for it. With each collection I make, I learn so much more than I would in a classroom. Spreading the word. Social media, word of mouth, making connections in the industry, lots of emails to industry people, etc. Inspiration and creation. I am inspired to sit down and design when I am going through a difficult time. I thought I had to live a certain lifestyle to be creative when, in reality, true creativity comes from within. It's all about that balance. I look at and study clothing that leans towards an art form, and buy pieces that fall closer to the commercial side. I see that as a common theme for a lot of people my age. Upcoming. I'm currently developing the Fall 2018 collection, and am excited to see how it turns out. We are hoping to show the collection during New York Fashion Week: Men's in February 2018. I graduate from UH in May, and there are a lot of unknowns regarding what will happen after that. But at the end of the day, that's what makes it all so exciting. Preston Boyer
