SALIENT FACTS. 28 A Fare Extraordinaire, the catering and event planner tapped for Taylor Swift's Super Bowl LI Fan Appreciation Party, as well as the 25th anniversary celebration of Hermann Park's Japanese Gardens, has opened an unusual venue for weddings and charity events. A former World War II-era plant that manufactured ammunition for the Allies, the 25,000-square-foot space is within Loop 610, just off Katy Road. A Fare Extraordinaire CEO and owner Rachael Volz and her husband, Jason Volz, have christened it The Revaire. The couple sought out Houston-based architectural firm Mak Studio to honor the history of the building, preserving its original bow-truss ceilings and concrete floors and keeping its heroic open spaces. In contrast to these industrial aesthetics, TA N G L E W O O D Revealing THE REVAIRE O ne of the most optimistic stories of the fall centers around Holocaust Museum Houston's ground breaking for its expansion, which continues the momentum from HMH's big news mid-summer. On June 20, Sue and Lester Smith presented the most munificent gift in the museum's history: a staggering $15 million. The Smiths were ringed by HMH board chair Gary Markowitz, museum CEO Kelly Zuñiga, and Mayor Sylvester Turner at an announcement ceremony that also imparted details of a grand plan. Alongside the giant check, the evening heralded the news of the $49.4 million expansion and endowment campaign and the coming of a new $33.8 million LEED-certified three-story building, which will be built by razing two-thirds of the current museum. Completion is set for early 2019.
