64 Wright and Oscar winner Casey Affleck have signed on. Production begins March 2018. It's an exhausting amount of acquisitions, to be sure, but movies and cinemas are the tip of Cohen's launch into the commerce of luxury lifestyles. "I'm spending a lot of time on real estate," he says. "But it's nice to distract myself somewhat to pursue other things that I find interesting." Those interests include the recent purchase of Harry's of London, British maker of handmade men's shoes and accessories; majority interest in natty Savile Row bespoke tailor Richard James; and the purchase of the 60-year-old American lighting company Marvin Alexander. Harry's of London and Richard James shops will open in early 2018 in Cohen's building at Park Avenue and 57th Street. Real estate acquisitions total 12 million square feet, with high-end office buildings predominantly in New York City, and design centers in four states with 600 design showrooms. Cohen does allow that he is not a one- man show. "All of these ventures are with other people, so it's not that it's all on my shoulders," he says. "There are people and experts in place that allow us to take what is there and expand it." But time, or lack thereof, can be the great equalizer. "I believe that you have all the time in the world to do the things that you love to do," he says. "I'm in a very fortunate place that it's not work. It's a form of passion. But I always have a business head about what I'm doing." Cohen moves from coast to coast and back and forth across the Atlantic. Beyond his four residences in the U.S. (Manhattan; Greenwich, Connecticut; Palm Beach; and L.A.), he and his wife, Clo, are newly minted proprietors of Château de Chausse, a 135-acre vineyard in Provence that produces award-winning wines. "It's all about curating a lifestyle that to me personifies a lot of the things that we are interested in, and I think a lot of people are interested in and enjoy," he says. "I hope to make sense of it from another perspective." Soon Cohen's logo for The Curated Lifestyle Collection will begin appearing throughout the Cohen world. Charles Cohen purchased Merchant Ivory Productions, which includes Howards End. Cohen won an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film in 2017 A scene from Maurice, 1987, Merchant Ivory Productions.
