PHOTOS BY WILSON PARRISH. D oyenne Diane Lokey Farb, Fashion Houstons 2012 honoree and fashion icon, inaugurated this seasons shows with a viewing of just a smidge from her haute hopper of creations, many of which were made just for her. The fashionminded came to revel amongst the groupings of garments that Farb has worn to such glamorous evenings as Chopards Cannes lm festival fte in the south of France and noteworthy Houston nights such as the Museum of Fine Arts, Houstons grand galas. Welcoming guests to the store were Neiman Marcus store director Bob Devlin, along with Stacey Swift and Liz Zarbua. Thanks to generous sponsors including Neimans and Momentum Audi, designers such as Zac Posen, Max Azria, David Peck, Gemma Kahng and Monique Lhuillier took to the Fashion Houston runway this year. In the kickoff crowd: Ceron; Joyce Echols and Elizabeth Petersen, both looking terribly chic in all black; cosmetics guru and Neiman Marcus alum Janet Gurwitch; Chanels Amy Logan; Donna and Robert Bruni; Frances Marzio; Judith Oudt; and Momentum Audi general manager Jared Lang. PHOTOGRAPHY JENNY ANTILL, FULTON DAVENPORT. C ombining the allure of designer bags with a good cause is too marvelous for a stylish gal to pass up. As a result, chairman Sarah Simon and honorary chair Susan Plank welcomed a packed house to the River Oaks Country Club for the annual Heroes and Handbags Luncheon, benetting Heroes for Children. The ladies eyed the handbags in the silent auction, which included coveted designers Prada, Miu Miu, Fendi and Gucci, as well as a one-of-a-kind bag from Houston-based designer and Heroes supporter Elaine Turner. Honoree Alissa Maples was presented with the Spirit of Allie and Taylor Award for her work with the charity. Allie Linton and Taylor Scott, the young daughters of Heroes for Children cofounders Larissa Linton and Jenny Scott, both lost their battles with cancer, and the women have worked tirelessly to support children and families facing this same disease. Heroes: Kristy Hensel, Virginia Steppe, 2013 luncheon chair Carrie Evans, Luvi Wheelock, and Allie Fields. At Neiman Marcus, iconic jeweler Steven Lagos commemorated the 35th anniversary of his collection with a return visit to where it all began. Showcasing his new couture collection of meticulously etched jade in myriad colors on chains with rough-cut rubies and sapphires, tassels adorned with tiny pearls and uniquely cut semiprecious stones, Lagos enjoyed a special visit from longtime customer and friend Anne Hooper, who was present at his rst show 35 years ago. With help from Lagos, Hooper purchased a stunning blue topaz ring from the Ombre collection as a birthday gift to herself.
