T he joys of the written word reigned absolute over two recent parties. Society for the Performing Arts reveled in the literary genius of Kathryn Stockett, author of The Help, at the organization���s 16th annual luncheon. This year���s recipient of the Ann Sakowitz Performing Arts Advocate Award was patron Mariquita Masterson, who received a Liz Glanville-designed 14K-gold brooch set with rubies for her years of commitment and support. Hopelessly devoted to the humanities: chair Lucinda Loya, honorary chair Karen Pulaski, SPA���s June Christensen and Priscilla Larson, Arvia Few, Kari Gonzales, Laura Rathe, Erin Siudzinski, Phyllis Williams, Rainey Knudson, Carol Piper, Katherine Murphy, Rene Flood, Ryan Reitmeyer, Corky Rebstock, Ruth Davis, and the honoree���s sister Susan Plum. Next up, Tootsies welcomed the last word in all things WASP, Cornelia Guest, for two days of luncheons, cocktails and signings of her new title, Cornelia Guest���s Simple Pleasures: Healthy Seasonal Cooking and Easy Entertaining, and a trunk show of her vegan handbag collection. Tony���s Catering produced delish tidbits straight from Guest���s entertaining tome, while Mary Elizabeth Hahnfeld entertained best girlfriends at lunch followed by a PaperCity hosted cocktail (it���s what we do best). Naturally, a percentage of sales of her cruelty-free handbags and accessories bene���tted Kathy Wetmore���s Shaggy Dog Rescue.
