letter publisher 36 N ew city. New job. New season. Serendipity has always been my favorite word. It turns out it has now guided me to my new favorite place. While I grew up in the north — Connecticut, to be exact — I have always felt like I was born to be a southerner. It was as if an internal force brought me here, landed me my dream job, and gave me wings to fly. While I've only been in Dallas for two short months, having left New York City and my most recent post as luxury and beauty director at Marie Claire magazine, it feels like I was always meant to live here. I am honored and humbled to be part of PaperCity — an iconic brand in a city where prerequisites include warm welcomes, genuine care and concern for others, passion and deep pride for family, friends, and all things Texas, plus a love of incredible food and fabulous wine. For many reasons, I feel like I have come home — here are but a few. Who knew all my Lela Rose and Oscar de la Renta would look so good with my cowboy boots? Our fur baby is the most popular pup on the block (NYC dogs were snooty!). Rosé season is all year long. The museums, the shopping, the restaurants, the lakes, the workout studios … there is much to see, explore, and experience. And the people. (Thank you to all of those who have so far welcomed my husband, Mike, our dog, Tootsie, and me with open arms.) This fall is also an exciting season for PaperCity, as we toast our 20th anniversary this month. It is a time of both innovation and tradition, for us. We celebrate what is new and exciting in this issue, while honoring our history — and the longtime relationships we share with so many of our partners. For this special 20th Anniversary issue, we collaborated with NorthPark Center on a look back at its impact as a fashion icon in Dallas (see pages 8 and 9). We spun through 20 years of party pictures with Neiman Marcus for a retrospective that recalls wild times spent with everyone from Tom Ford signing unmentionables to Manolo Blahnik riding the bull (see pages 64 and 65). And we dug deep into our archives with Stanley Korshak, for a most stylish timeline of the retailer's most memorable in-store moments (see pages 82 and 83). As the Fall season kicks into high gear with fabulous events (save the date for the PaperCity-sponsored Dallas Symphony Orchestra Gala Saturday, September 15, starring none other than vocal dynamo Kristin Chenoweth), we hope you take a bit of a respite, perhaps with a cocktail or coffee, and read through our gorgeous September issue.
