For its 20-year celebration, TWO x TWO's masterminds and longtime hosts, Cindy and Howard Rachofsky, tapped mega-philanthropist Tim Headington as gala chairman. Italian Gerolamo "Gimmo" Etro founded the company in the seminal year of 1968 as a prêt-à- porter and haute couture textile house, and ever since, Etro has embraced the power of pattern. Today the company is still family-run; Gimmo now plays an advisory role, having passed the business to his four children. Veronica Etro, a graduate of Central Saint Martins, and Kean Etro, who designed Etro's first menswear collection in 1990, serve as creative directors and have designed the Etro 50 capsule collection, which celebrates the brand's rich history while keeping an eye on the future. The collection incorporates T-shirts, sweatshirts, cotton sweaters, slip-on footwear, accessories, and silk and cashmere scarves, all with the Etro 50 crest and the company's bohemian tagline, mixed with the signature paisley and vibrant colors. First came two stores — one in hot Knox- Henderson, the other in hipster Bishop Arts. Now, a new Aesop boutique at NorthPark Center rounds out the triumvirate. At NorthPark, the visual concept is a collaboration with Canadian architect Alain Carle, employing mixed materials (Texas Mesquite timber paired with pink powder-coated metal) for an intimate, artful space.
