32 DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER BY CHRISTINA GEYER. PHOTOGRAPHY JONATHAN ZIZZO. A buzz of excitement could be felt throughout Bachendorf's at the Cattle Baron's Ball Live Auction Preview Party: "This is set to be the biggest year yet!" was the most overheard phrase that night. Indeed, CBB chairmen Jonika Nix and Katy Bock (wife of Bachendorf's owner Lawrence Bock, who for years has supported CBB and provided the venue for the preview party) have been mighty fund-raising machines. They and their team of Cattle Baron's Ball Baronesses — Marjon Zabihi Henderson, Vodi Cook, Tara Versfelt, Andrea Weber, Kristi Bare, Jennifer Burns, Kelley Ledford, Heather Randall, and Diana Hamilton — have spent the last year wrangling donations and securing top musical talent (Zac Brown Band will take the main stage) to support the American Cancer Society at its largest single-night fund-raiser of the year. (Save the date: Saturday, October 20, at Gilley's, where we're positive those record-breaking rumors will come true.) To kick off what we lovingly call Cattle Baron's Ball season — the time between late September and this month's 45th annual Ball — Bachendorf's became a lively scene, with guests previewing live auction items and shopping for new baubles, with a portion of jewelry sales that night benefitting American Cancer Society. BACHENDORF'S KICKS OFF CATTLE BARON'S BALL SEASON.
