letter publisher 10 JONATHAN ZIZZO A s I write this letter, I must admit that I am in denial that the New Year is upon us. How did this happen? It seems 2018 came and went fast and furious — and I am thrilled to see what 2019 has in store for all of us. Our first issue of the year kicks things off with a deep dive into the world of home design by way of coverage of Texas Design Week Dallas and the Dallas PaperCity Design Awards. In its fourth year, our Design Awards were held for the first time at the Joule hotel, with a pre-party across Main Street at Forty Five Ten — both venues proved perfect locales for toasting our city's design crowd. With nearly 220 entries across 19 categories, our judges — Hutton Wilkinson of Tony Duquette, Victoria Hagan, Suzanne Kasler, Ray Booth of McAlpine, and Jeffrey Dungan — were left with the difficult task of selecting this year's winners. For an in-depth recap of all the fes- tivities — including countless TXDW parties and a look at the winning entries — turn to page 50. It's a feast for the eyes, with outstanding design from Chad Dorsey, Bentley Tibbs, Amy Berry, Lauren Hudson of Wells Abbott, Waldrop + Nichols, Maestri Studio, and more. PaperCity is also thrilled to partner with NorthPark Center on its Luxury Ambassadors initiative, which celebrates the city's most stylish and civically minded. For this year's section, our editorial team collaborated with photographer Ana Hop on a portfolio of portraits shot at the Meadows Museum. Each Luxury Ambassador is, of course, wearing a designer from one of NorthPark Center's luxury retailers, from Versace and Roberto Cavalli to Neiman Marcus and Eiseman Jewels. With a new year also comes an exciting addition to our team. Early this month, we welcomed Maggie Wilson as PaperCity's new Dallas events and partnerships manager. You will, no doubt, see her on the town as the spring social season revs up. In the meantime, may your 2019 be filled with plenty of love and laughter.
