JEFFREY BILHUBER X WELLS ABBOTT PHOTOGRAPHY JONATHAN ZIZZO effrey Bilhuber may have decorated the homes of Anna Wintour, Iman and David Bowie, and Elsa Peretti, and been anointed the 2019 Albert Hadley Lifetime Achievement Award — the Oscar of design — and be a regular on the AD100 and the Elle Decor A-List, but one design tip he imparted was for all of us: "I never put a drinks cart on wheels. I don't need it following me around all day. I know where it is when I want a drink." Obviously Bilhuber knows a thing or two about great interiors, so it's no wonder a crowd of designers and enthusiasts packed the Wells Abbott showroom during Texas Design Week Dallas to hear him speak. Wells Abbot owner Lauren Hudson introduced the ever-dapper Bilhuber, and the show began. A very lively, opinionated, and funny discussion ensued, with images of interiors and sage design advice from his book Everyday Decorating (Rizzoli). Even the seasoned pros in the room were scribbling notes. One takeaway: The most important marketing tool designers can have in their arsenal is Instagram.
