LIVE UNITED O n Friday, January 10, United Way of Metropolitan Dallas celebrated the announcement of a transformational gift for its future — a $10 million gift from the family of Mary Anne Sammons Cree in honor of her 90th birthday. The gift names, in perpetuity, the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas Building The Mary Anne Sammons Cree Building. This historic gift ensures United Way will continue to place opportunity in the hands of all North Texans forever. It is the largest gift to date to the Unite Forever Campaign, which has now reached $72 million towards the $100 million goal. Mary Anne is the proud mother of 10 children, many of whom attended with their own children to honor this special mother and grandmother. Her son, Brian Paul Cree, spoke on behalf of the family and provided a model of the building to unveil the new signage to the audience. United Way's conference room and fifth-floor lobby were the scene of this lovely occasion, designed by Jason Valdivia, complete with an elegant fête culminating in a sparkling birthday cake and champagne toast to Mary Anne.
