34 MOONLIGHT AT THE MANSION NORTHPARK AMBASSADOR DINNER BRINGS DALLAS' LEADING PHILANTHROPISTS TO ROSEWOOD MANSION ON TURTLE CREEK FOR AN EVENING OF SURPRISES. A cool winter night, an 11-year-old orator e x t r a o r d i n a i r e , philanthropists and charities, a basketball legend's wife, a gorgeously set table in a candlelit room, and a rousing mariachi band — such was the scene at the annual NorthPark Ambassador dinner held at Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek. The NorthPark Ambassador Program brings together a diverse group of Dallas philanthropists, who each choose a charity to support during the year through NorthPark Center events and initiatives. Nancy Nasher clinked her glass to silence the bubbly chitchat, then welcomed NorthPark's lead ambassador, Kimberly Schlegel Whitman to the podium. Schlegel is supporting Dec My Room, a group that decorates children's hospital rooms to make them feel more comforting. A particularly poignant moment of the evening occurred when Colin Harris, a fi fth-grader at J.P. Starks, came to the microphone. Harris recently won the 28th annual Foley & Lardner MLK Jr. Oratory Competition. Dallas Symphony Orchestra musicians were also joined by student performers of their Young Strings program to play an excerpt from Vivaldi's The Four Seasons. Enjoying the evening — while Mariachi Rosas Divinas, one of the few female mariachi groups in the U.S., played on — were 2020 Ambassadors Jamie O'Banion, Geoffroy van Raemdonck and Alvise Orsini, Meredith Land, Jenny Kirtland, Heather Randall, Tucker Enthoven, Diana Hamilton, and Kate Dykes. Others gathered to celebrate were Sarah Haemisegger, Jessica Nowitzki, Charles English, Melbourne O'Banion, Stephen Crawford, Lynn McBee, and David Drake, Sonny Dykes and Justin Whitman.
