letter publisher 20 MISAEL RODRIGUEZ A s I pen this letter for our September issue — a month that typically kicks off the fall social season — I can't help but reflect on the past few months. For most of us, this has been a time for internal reflection, to thoughtfully consider what matters most. For me, my constant source of gratitude is family: my own family, the friends I have chosen as family, my work family, and our incredible Dallas community that makes what we do possible. I hope this issue provides inspiration for a bright and exciting season ahead — perhaps it can serve as a welcome escape from the world around us. Our sales and editorial teams have worked tirelessly — and remotely — to put together a beautiful magazine to kick off our favorite season of the year. The pages are filled with vibrant photography and brilliant stories, and I've never been more proud to call myself a member of the PaperCity family. The subjects we cover in this issue range from renowned architectural preservationist Brent Hull to Dallas Art Fair's online marketplace, Culture Place, and a fashion portfolio from Dior's Fall/Winter 2020 collection. If these last months have taught us anything, it's that digital is more powerful than ever, allowing us a way to share stories with you and stay in touch from afar. With that, I'm thrilled to announce the launch of a new online series, PaperCity Recipes, at papercitymag.com/recipes. Here, our favorite local chefs share their most treasured recipes in a virtual environment that allows you to save your favorites and share with friends. In between dining out al fresco or picking up from your favorite spots, you can support our local culinary community by preparing a special recipe at home and sharing with us on social media. Don't forget to tag your favorite chef and @papercitydallas and use the hashtag #papercityrecipes. As we dive into fall, I leave you with a few thoughts that have kept our team grounded, focused, and optimistic as of late: With challenge and uncertainty comes great opportunity. We are inspired by the way local businesses, big and small, have worked to pivot and stay resilient; we are inspired by the people in our community who use their voices as catalysts for change; and we are inspired by the forces around us that are fostering creative change. From all of us at PaperCity, we send a virtual air kiss and wishes for nothing short of a happy, healthy and prosperous fall. Brooke Dowdy Dallas Publisher brooke@papercitymag.com
