letter editor HUNT SLONEM A s spring arrives, along with the vaccine, all thoughts lead to Round Top and the Spring Antiques Show, March 18 through April 4. This amazing little town is all grown up with Cinda and Armando Palacios' new Hotel Lulu (page 92); Lisa Pope Westerman, Erica Levit, and Amy Robins Dempsey's The Farm at Wellville (page 98); Cisco Home moving in from L.A. (page 88); Round Top's first public art exhibition with Rachel Hayes' hypnotic textile installations (page 102); the opening of The Halles venue for antiques and design (page 94) with Leigh Keno of the Keno Brothers appraising antiques and objects (page 86); and, at Red & White Gallery in Fayetteville, photographer Laura Wilson's extraordinary show, "Looking West," through May 31 (page 80). Have a cocktail at the Ellis Motel (it's a hopping watering hole and not a motel at all), sit by the pool (yes, pool) at Il Cuculo bar at Hotel Lulu, and shop at the new Round Top Antiques + Design Center at Henkel Square (page 100). Stop by the VIP Pavilion at The Halles and say hi. We'll be there! On the heels of Round Top's Spring Antiques Show is Texas Design Week Houston, scheduled for May 17 through 21, a week- long celebration of design with salon talks, book signings, cocktails, and product launches. Thursday, May 20, is the PaperCity Design Awards at Sarofim House on River Oaks Boulevard, hosted by New Orleans Auction Galleries. Enter your projects now at papercitymag. com/designawards. We're booking designers and architects as we speak, but we have confirmations for Mark Sikes speaking and signing his new book More Beautiful: All American Decoration (Rizzoli) at Found; Christopher Spitzmiller signing his new book, out this month, A Year at Clove Brooke Farm (Rizzoli), see page 66; Celerie Kemble with her new book Island Whimsy (Rizzoli), out in April; and Jay Jeffers speaking at Elegant Additions. Tuesday, May 18, is Design in Bloom (a collaboration with Flower magazine and Texas Design Week) with architect Bobby McAlpine, designer Ray Booth, landscape architect Keith Williams, and Flower magazine editor in chief Margot Shaw, at The Houston Design Center. Many more great speakers to come. For the most updated list, check with texasdesignweek.com. And, for our last bit of design news. Kips Bay Decorator Show House Dallas has announced dates for 2021: Opening night is Thursday, September 23; show house open through October 24, with co-chairs Jan Showers, Chad Dorsey, and Jean Liu; vice chairs Laura Lee Falconer and Trish Sheats; and Jamie Drake and Veranda editor in chief Steele Marcoux as honorary chairs. Veranda magazine takes the lead as national media sponsor, and PaperCity and D Home serve as local media sponsors. More to come in the months ahead.
