OF NEWLYWEDS NUPTIALS A N D BY SETH VAUGHAN FIVE SPECIAL DAYS AND THE DETAILS THAT DEFINED THEM The Couple: LAURA HAWKINS & JOHN CHAPMAN Roadhouse Bar-b-q Laura Hawkins and John Chapman Date: August 8, 2012 Venue: Snake River Ranch, Jackson Hole, Wyoming, a working cattle ranch that is also a rentable venue, located 11 miles outside of Jackson Hole Flowers: Lily & Company, Jackson Hole Caterer: Maho Catering Company, Jackson Hole Music: Simply Irresistible, Atlanta-based 12-piece cover band Bride's gown: Elizabeth Fillmore Groom: Bespoke suit by Thomas Mahon of London Photographer: Karen Sachar DIVINE DETAILS • A grove of Aspen trees was the wedding's ceremony site, from which guests strolled to the reception, held beneath an immense white tent with glorious views of the Grand Teton mountain range. • The bride wore cowboy boots from Rocketbusters, tooled with green lovebirds and pink hearts. Making her ensemble all the more special were a turquoise heart charm her mother wore when she wed the bride's father and a bracelet made from found mammoth ivory, given to her by the groom the day before. • The inspiration for the decor was taken from the wedding's surroundings: Vibrant local flowers were simply arranged in mason jars and glass milk bottles; light fixtures at the reception were fashioned from antlers. • Local wildflowers made up the bouquets for the bride and bridesmaids. • Place-card holders were fashioned from tree-branch segments. • Hand-painted signs, employed throughout the wedding, added to the homespun, rustic feel. • An antique window acted as the seating chart, with each pane displaying table members. • Vintage freestanding walls made from old timber acted as backdrop for photographs and defined areas of the reception. • The groom's cake was iced to resemble a birch tree stump, with the couple's initials carved into it. • Old tin water buckets filled with wild flowers were placed at the ends of each row of seating at the ceremony. • The couple was chauffeured away in a vintage red Chrysler convertible. • Honeymoon: Tanzania and Zanzibar. NOTES FROM A WEDDING: The couple successfully brought together relations and friends with a Texas (bride) vs. North Carolina (groom) barbecue at Roadhouse Bar-b-q the night before the wedding, serving both styles of barbecue. Square dancing with a caller and fiddler rounded out the night. Birch bark cake
