TWISTING REALITY A l e s s a n d r o M i c h e l e c e l e b r a t e d G u c c i ' s 1 0 0 t h anniversary by throwing one of the most symbolic house parties in fashion history. One of the highlights — apart from its serious casting and diversity — was Michele's intentional hijacking of Balenciaga's iconic silhouettes and famous aesthetics. Gucci shows us that an alliance with a friendly rival really can be explosively stunning. Perhaps if we all took a page from this playbook, we would allow ourselves to see a more beautiful world. The neon glow of a sign for the Savoy Club ushers in the guests. (The Savoy Hotel has special meaning, as it's where Guccio Gucci worked at a young age.) Once through the door, your body moves to the beat of Lil Pump's Gucci Gang. The paparazzi lights flash, and your heart races. A delicious red velvet suit comes out with a bang, and you can't help but lose control and yell out. The brilliant quick-cut editing of the show splices different looks, showing the entire ensembles and the details. Extraordinary bags, boots, broaches all have independent yet cohesive touches from both houses. The look that sends me spinning is the blue ombré feathered pant, heavily stoned corset and chin-strapped fetish visor. The added a c c e s s o r y — a bull whip that the model f i e r c e l y cracks on the runway — makes you instantly want to be her. How could you not, with Bhad Bhabie's music taking over the runway! Other standouts include the horse- bit harness, the head-to-toe shimmery silver Gucci Balenciaga logo suit, ornate septum rings, gorge transparent bodysuits, insane chokers, the yellow signature logo, and the kaleidoscope print carried throughout several looks. I gush over the black-and-blue Gucci monogram sparkling coat with a silhouette that simultaneously screams Balenciaga. Even the minimal nude sequined double-breasted suit makes my heart melt. You simply must experience it yourself. The show's fast-paced attitude will revive your fashion spirit. The looks will inspire you to become the elegant equestrian fetish goddess you know you are. If only we could all party through the night and step into the Gucci Garden, where the after- party was held. Spinning, kissing, and dancing in slow motion, the models connect with nature, horses, peacocks, and each other. It puts you in a euphoric state, dreaming about which piece of Gucci's Aria Collection you'll be adding to your life. Doug Voisin F ollowing its collaboration w i t h a r t i s t S a r a h Coleman at Design Miami in 2020, Fendi launches the Fendi FF Vertigo Collection. Known for her manipulation of designer materials, Coleman's work offers the viewer different interpretations of familiar objects by repurposing the materials that go into their construction. For the capsule collection, she teamed with Fendi accessories and menswear artistic director Silvia Venturini Fendi to reinterpret Fendi's iconic FF logo pattern by looking through the lens of the psychedelic '70s, rendering it in a twisted and turned version of the classic look. The collection of womenswear, m e n s w e a r , handbags, shoes, and accessories launched last month.
