The Heights area's new food hall is very much open — and bustling. Railway Heights has been embraced by a part of town that is short of food halls, from the big porch swings and games on the large lawn to the bustling wine bar inside. The East River mega development — almost a city within the city that will essentially give Houston a new riverfront — is now under construction. The 150-acre mixed-use center is located in the often overlooked Fifth Ward, near its intersection with the Second Ward. This part of Houston has never seen a project like this (one from the mixed-use pioneers behind CityCentre). Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner notes that these communities have always been "in the shadow of development."
