ART + DECORATION ARSIN RUG GALLERY ARRIVES L ate November, Stark Carpet moves from Decorative Center Houston to an 11,000-square- foot state-of-the-art showroom at 1020 W. Loop North Freeway, Suite 100, in the same new development as Meredith O'Donnell Fine Furniture. We can't wait to see the 110-foot-long backlit wall with carpet samples arranged like jewelry and the automated wall with 196 rugs. Scalamandré remains at Decorative Center Houston. Anne Lee Phillips THIS JUST IN D orothy Draper first designed her banana-leaf wallpaper in 1939 for the historic Arrowhead Springs resort in San Bernardino, California. Since then, the iconic pattern, Brazilliance, has become synonymous with Draper's inimitable style, one that focuses on exuberant colors and large prints that often cover entire walls. She also used striped papers to emphasize a room's height — The Greenbrier resort in West Virginia dazzles with Draper's striped and banana- leaf wallpapers — so what better idea than to combine them. Brazilliance Grove Stripe, created by Carleton Varney, president of Dorothy Draper & Co, is a fresh take on Draper's original design and adds height to a space by using banana leaves to create the classic Draper vertical stripes. Ideal for smaller spaces such as an entry, staircase, or powder bath, the new pattern comes in four vibrant colors — green, pink, aqua, and blue — and is also available in a fabric option. Brazilliance Grove Stripe, $278 per roll, at dorothydraperfw.com. Rebecca Sherman LEAF IT TO CARLTON H ouston designers can add a coveted new rug source to their arsenal: Arsin Rug Gallery.
