JEWEL CROWN (Continued on page 40) R aise your hands: W h o w a n t s a B r e a k f a s t a t Tiffany's moment? Well, if you were lucky enough to attend the recent Jewel Charity Ball at Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, you had one — and oh-so much more. The iconic Pioneer Tower glowed a charming Tiffany blue to reflect the evening's Audrey Hepburn-inspired theme, and the same iconic hue was projected onto the exterior of the building and softly glowed throughout the ballroom as the ladies (swans, if you will) shared air-kisses and sipped champagne. This year's event was the vision of JCB president Michelle Marlow and ball chairs Olivia Kearney, Paige Pate and Julie Sawyer, all good friends of mine (Marlow and Kearney were also PaperCity She's the Bomb girls). The cherished Fort Worth tradition, which celebrates Angel donors who generously support the patients at Cook Children's, was two years in the planning, due to the lockdown that we'd rather not mention. A little history: The Jewel Charity was formed when two women, Nenetta Burton Carter and Bille Bransford Clark (president of the Women's Board of Fort Worth Children's Hospital), vowed to raise money to support families unable to pay for their children's care. A committee of 15 women was formed and quickly grew, with the first event occurring in January 1954 and raising $9,000. THE By Billy Fong. Photography Jonathan Zizzo.
