PAPERCITY ADVERTORIAL Meet Susie Thompson The Agent Next Door: F inding your new family home can be both exciting and daunting, with important must-haves ranging from the right location for school and work to a family- friendly floor plan and a nearby safe place for children to play. Enter Susie Thompson — a down-to-earth mom of four boys who calls Dallas home. She's spent her career helping clients find the perfect place to raise their own families and make a lifetime of memories. Number of years in real estate. Susie Thompson: I've been active in the real estate industry for 15 years. Area of expertise. ST: I primarily serve the tried-and-true Dallas neighborhoods of Highland Park and University Park, as well as areas of East Dallas, including Lakewood, the M Streets, and areas along the perimeter of White Rock Lake. Hottest up-and-coming neighborhood. ST: The pocket just east of White Rock Lake has grown rapidly over the past several years, thanks to its convenient location, proximity to the lake, and the Casa View shopping center. Best location for p u r c h a s i n g a second home. ST: The best second homes are no more than two hours away — you'll be able to visit frequently and make visits a part of your regular rhythm. Prediction for the 2022 market. ST: Today's market is all about the right pricing. I love to offer my clients a perspective and advice on ways they can maximize the potential of their sale. From fresh paint to a landscape clean-up or a new fence, sometimes the smaller changes make the biggest impact. Most used room in your house. ST: As a family with four growing boys, there's never not someone in the kitchen! When our house hit the market, I knew it was the one when I saw the kitchen had two refrigerators and two freezers, not to mention an oversized pantry. Community involvement. ST: I started Moms in Prayer at McCullough Middle School and Highland Park High School last fall and this fall I'm continuing that group along with adding two new groups, one for the high school and one for Armstrong Elementary. With four boys and a busy career serving my clients, I choose wisely where to spend my free time and these groups are important to not only me, but our wider community, too. Local restaurant you can't live without. ST: I think I have a favorite within each category — does that count? I love Mi Cocina and Al Biernat's but can't live without girly lunches at Hudson House. And who doesn't grab a burger from Chips on the weekend? Your secret to helping clients find their perfect home. ST: I'm dedicated to listening to my clients' needs and taking any constraints into consideration while still offering them a range of choices. I love to propose ideas they hadn't previously considered and open their minds to all that the city offers. Your concierge service advantage. ST: I've developed a reputation over the years for helping our clients pinpoint a punch list of items in their homes to update before we put a property on the market. Oftentimes, a $10,000 budget for minor updates can bring a return three times the investment in a sale. The one thing that's important to most people when looking for a home. ST: Everyone wants a location nestled within a friendly community atmosphere — there's simply no price tag for it. In our own corner of the Park Cities, I host a party on Cinco de Mayo for the neighborhood. What isn't traditionally a big holiday has turned into an occasion anticipated by everyone, thanks to the event's community feel, the ease of walking down the block to a taco truck, and a chance to catch up with your neighbors. What home means to you. ST: Home is a place of safety, security, rest, and a comfortable refuge to recharge. Our homes are the one place we can fully relax, rest, and retreat with the people we love the most.
