Original, joining the group of 13 vetted exhibitors. Owner Charlotte du Toit established her home-furnishing atelier in NYC a quarter-century ago, with a nod to her South African roots. Now Montreal based, Outpost Original emphasizes the texture of the continent: artisan basketry; David Ballam's photos of people, places, and cultures; decor such as Cameroon Juju hats and ebony vessels from Mozambique; and furniture, the latter made in house, including striking Lucite bar stools with Tibetan lamb upholstery and naturally shed porcupine-quill lamps and mirrors … The brain behind local favorites Lollipop Sweet Shop and Round Top Brewing is also into beauty. And now, entrepreneur Brooke Michie is making Round Top a more beautiful place with the relaunch and expansion of her Lyric Salon and spa at a new location: a two-story old German farmhouse in Henkel Square. BUZZ: RETAIL RODEO ROUND ROUND ABOUT TOP C ompound Interest: The Compound is in the midst of an ambitious e x p a n s i o n t h a t keeps preservation and green space front and center, according to owner Mayor Mark Massey and show producer/director Kathy Johnston. Three new buildings, created out of historic homes saved from the wrecking ball in the Round Top area, have been relocated then meticulously restored and repurposed. The Garden House — set to be a spot for the bride and groom to get ready for their big day, as well as a venue during shows — is being readied for a spring reveal. It aligns with The Compound's new focus as a wedding destination. The Farmstead and The Cottage will be ready to welcome show-goers this fall. Come Spring 2023, The Cottage will become The Compound's new dining spot, with Bistro 108 moving from Peck Barn to expanded Cottage digs. Meanwhile, Jardin de France's lovely château-like building is being readied for the Winter Show 2023. Shop the delightful garden aerie created by Gloria and Patrice Watine at the White Barn until then.
