T he Spring 2023 Antiques & Design Show — March 18 through April 1 at The Halles — sees the fifth iteration of the PaperCity and Round Top Publishers event space and design, art, fashion, and foodie Mecca take off, with its seven Halles, main pavilion, and tented spaces filled with unique purveyors and exciting happenings. Through it all, The Halles keeps the vibe cool with its returning Presenting Sponsor, Big Ass Fans deployed throughout the Halles. Stepping up again as an Underwriting Sponsor, JennAir presents The Halles Food Lab by JennAir installed in The Halles' main pavilion. (A Round Top toque who needs no intro, Royers Cafe's JB Royers, has been tapped by JennAir as chef for its private dinners.) Watch for the state-of-the-art test kitchen's striking black ash natural slate countertops, courtesy Thorntree, and Alturas apron-front sink in bronze light, provided by Elegant Additions, with design concept by noted Dallas designer Chad Dorsey. Country Sunshine will serve food the entire show, as well as a full array of drinks from the bar. Here's our guide to the season's must-shop Halles stops. In Halle 1, check out a huge game changer as Round Top regular Verona Disdier sets up permanent shop at The Halles — a dramatic year- round showroom for her signature Pierre Verona — her calling card is Mother Nature's art. Stunning vessels, furniture, accessories, and original lapidary art are honed from minerals and gems retrieved from her personal quarries in Mexico. Head to Halle 2 for Brett Millet and Crystal Nichols' antique and mid-century modern furniture and lighting, an exciting addition to The Halles' year-round program. Also holding court in Halle 2 are returning bijoux retailers Heather Benjamin for nomadic jewelry and Covet Aspen's modern jewelry, where Round Top's stylish show-goers flock to get their Western vibe on. In Halle 3, beeline to ParaVida Wellness' charming bodega, an epicurean emporium stocked with healthy bites and national-award-winning sauces, salsa, jams and jellies, and wines from peachy Fredericksburg purveyor Fischer & Wieser. Third- generation rug company Amadi Carpets was founded in Afghanistan, where it currently employs as many as 200 women hand-looming its artisanal rugs. In dialogue with the texture and materiality of Amadi Carpets' natural fibers are Sabine Maes Art's canvases, textiles, and sheepskins. The Belgian- based painter is the ideal creative for Round Top, with her reverence for Mother Earth, respect for the countryside, and use of raw ingredients from nature in her weaving and art making. Maes now has an expanded presence in Halle 5 as well. Finally, at Halle 3, visit Starred Sky Development for a new take on living in the country, with architecturally informed homes for those that want to move beyond a big-box city house. Halle 4 welcomes returning design haven M. Naeve, whose founder, Margaret Naeve, is known for her unerring eye and extraordinary, understated interiors that whisper with importance. Her space brims with mid-century furniture, as well as elevated designs by significant contemporary creators. Another celebrated denizen of design, Carol Piper Rugs, showcases antique, vintage, and new rugs, textiles, and pillows. Christopher Martin Gallery, a returning exhibitor contributing to The Halles' thrilling art wave, features Christopher Martin's ongoing collection of abstract reverse- painted acrylic panels, Steve Wrubel's dramatic photographic odes to horse and rider — a coveted series photographed across the great American West — and more. 102
