D esigner Alexa Hampton — newly appointed to the AD100 2023 Hall of Fame — has teamed with Woodard o u t d o o r f u r n i t u r e , t h e venerable 150-year-old Michigan-based company owned by Dallas designer Jean Liu, a longtime fan of Hampton's work. A mutual friend introduced them in 2020. "We hit it off immediately," Liu says. "Alexa wanted to partner with a company to create outdoor collections that were classic, timeless, and scaled more proportionately to what her clients needed versus what she was seeing in the industry." Three collections of 31 pieces were born, all inspired by Hampton's relaxed and refined Southampton home, along with her travels. Lorenzo is reminiscent of Italian coastal living with pure, simplified forms; San Michele is inspired by the timelessness of wicker loom and the northern Italian coast; Tuoro's inspiration comes from the architecture of Central Italy, featuring intricate fretwork. Liu is crazy about the Tuoro bench. "A good-looking bench is rare in the outdoor space, and this fills the gap," she says. The San Michele collection is classic Alexa, she says, with its familiar silhouette with Greek Key skirt details. "It's a subtle but noteworthy difference," Liu says. Window Shop has inventory that spans a variety of periods and styles, from Louis XVI to '70s modern, and it all feels highly personal — Moldawer only buys what she'd have in her own Houston home. Her penchant for styling and scouting beautiful objects comes naturally: Her mother is celebrated Dallas interior designer Jan Showers. "I've always had a love for interiors because I grew up around design," Moldawer says. "I inherently lean towards my mother's style — it has a little glamour to it." While Showers is best known for an alluring French 1940s aesthetic, her daughter gravitates to a more casual vibe provided by mid-20th- century bamboo and rattan furnishings such as bar carts, étagères, mirrors, and magazine racks. A recent peek at the website revealed a pair of tall yellow early-20th-century art pottery vases, a 1940s Venetian etched-glass mirror, and a vintage Italian secretary; the narrow width makes it perfect to use as a bar, which is how she's styled it. "Barware is the most popular thing on the website — silver decanters, cocktail shakers, and glassware — they sell fast," she says. "Games tables are huge right now, too, with so many people playing board games like mahjong." Window Shop, windowshophome.com, @windowshophome.
