They're drawn to organic forms such as the rice-paper Noguchi light sculpture brought back from The Noguchi Museum in New York City and a floor lamp made from rocks picked up by Los Angeles artist Rachel Shillander of LLand on her hikes in California. Plates, glassware, and other dishes are all handmade, some by British artist Max Lamb and others purchased at such London shops as The New Craftsmen and Momosan Shop, curated by Japan-born owner Momoko Mizutani. "Mizutani's work is all tactile and irregular and feels like a human heart has made it," Barnhart says. With a creamy color palette and lack of superfluous decorative objects, there's nothing to distract from the peaceful vibe that runs throughout the house.
