ROUND TOP SQUARE DANCE R ound Top's year-round shopping and dining spots saw some changes this summer, with familiar favorites moving and expanding, while exciting new stores entered the scene. HENKEL SQUARE MARKET: Antiques and vintage purveyor Mimi Rogers has moved Bisou Bisou across Highway 237 into historic Henkel Square Market … As the Round Top home-building market explodes, Georgetown-based pool, patio, and landscape firm Omnia Outdoors, owned by Jason Daugherty, has opened an office and showroom on the top floor of the Mill & Live Oak building above Southern Beasts and Sapana … Luxury western-wear phenom Kemo Sabe has galloped into a new building in Henkel Square — the first Texas retail location for the brand, which started in Aspen and has stores in Vail; Jackson, Wyoming; and Park City, Utah. Watch for Kemo Sabe to soft-open during the Fall 2023 Round Top Antiques + Design Show … Humble Donkey and Lower40 Found Objects at Henkel Square has completed a renovation of their art studio and store, with upgrades to the interior gallery and retail space. A new entrance has been added to create a cozy corner interfacing Kemo Sabe; Humble Donkey's John Lowery exhibited some of his art at Kemo Sabe's Vail and Aspen stores over the summer. Humble Donkey's new entrance overlooks the Ellis Motel bar, and Merritt Meat Company, the new iteration of The Round Top Smokehouse, now owned by Truth Barbeque's Abbie Byrom- Botello and Leonard Botello, with smoked meats and other dishes. The new name is a tribute to former Round Top Smokehouse owner Lee Ellis (whose middle name was Merritt), who passed away in March. ROLLAND SQUARE: The Monarch, owned by Kait Kirby, has taken a space at the historic Moores Fort, offering fashion brands such as Free People and Daydreamer, accessories, jewelry, and more. … The general store Texas Best Goods, owned by Jackie and Roger Hess, has moved into the fort adjacent to The Monarch. Look for pearl-snap shirts, handmade knives, and kitchen sundries such as imported sauces, mixes, and cooking oils under the house brand Woah! That's Good. MINDEN SQUARE: The porch and yard of Round Top Brewing often overflow with people enjoying house beers and live music. Thus, founders Brooke and Paul Michie are expanding the restaurant and nano-brewery into the Minden Square space formerly occupied by their Lollitop Sweetshop, which moved to Henkel Square this past spring. The first phase of the expansion nearly triples the brewery's cold storage, and kick-started canning and small-scale beer distribution plans. A new enclosed outdoor cooking space with high-capacity smoker means more menu options and more mouths fed until the full-scale commercial kitchen is complete.
