T he Houston Design District presents its fourth annual Fall Design Week + Access/Design, kicking off Monday, October 9, 5:30 pm, at Meredith O'Donnell Fine Furniture Showroom with New York-based designer Vicente Wolf speaking and signing his new book, Creative Interior Solutions (Rizzoli). On Tuesday, October 10, 10 am, join Houston designer Nina Magon for a Q&A and signing of her first book, Nina Magon: Evoke (Monacelli), at James Craig Furnishings. At 11 am, also at James Craig Furnishings, Houston designer Paloma Contreras discusses the art of blending vintage with contemporary to create layered and lush spaces, with a talk and signing of her new book, The New Classic Home (Abrams). Following a 12:15 pm lunch, wrap up the afternoon with a panel discussion at 1 pm at James Craig Furnishings with designer Mary Lambrakos, Rebecca Bredthauer of Sicardi Galleries, and Katie LaRose of Content Architecture. On Wednesday, October 11, 10 am, Kirksey Architecture presents Sustainability in Design CEU with associate vice president and director of sustainability and building performance Catherine Callaway at Kirksey Architecture. Thursday, October 12, 9:30 am, there's a VIP reception with Houston Chronicle architecture and home design writer Diane Cowen, followed by a presentation at Thorntree Natural Stone with designer Mary The Houston Design District Fall Design Week Patton, who discusses her home designed by late architect Paul László. The final act of the week is Access/Design at Thorntree Natural Stone with designer Linda Eyles and architect Michael Hsu, who discuss their collaboration on Eyles' own home in the Heights. Wrap up the week with a 12:30 pm lunch at Scene One Interiors. Tickets are required to attend each event.
