Fashion to Furniture L ast year, fashion designer Ann Demeulemeester — one of the legendary Antwerp Six — collaborated on a furniture c o l l e c t i o n w i t h B e l g i a n manufacturer Serax. Now, it's available to buy in Texas. You'll find it exclusively at Garde, the Dallas showroom that carries works by fellow Belgians Vincent Van Duysen and Michael Verheyden. Like her fashion, Demeulemeester designed her furniture with husband and longtime artistic partner Patrick Robyn, and it explores many of the same themes: light and dark, strength and fragility, preciousness and functionality. The collection includes a variety of seating and tables, some inspired by her previous tabletop creations for Serax. Highlights include Frou, a seductive white sofa and cushion fringed in black with removable, washable covers. Graceful Elé chairs display a slender silhouette with legs that, in profile, transition from circles to squares for added strength. Cici tables have cruciform oak wood bases and circular tops in painter's canvas. The Stella side table combines geometric elements with integrated dimmable LED lighting. The collection all comes together in a classic black-and-white palette, punctuated by lively bursts of pink, green, and tangerine.
