OBSESSIONS. DECORATION. SALIENT FACTS. O ne of this summer's m o s t d e l i g h t f u l exhibitions addresses America's infatuation with grilling. Cue "Rebecca Manson: Barbecue" at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. The NY- based talent, a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, is on our watch list for her innovative, often cheeky way with clay. Fresh from inclusion in an important group show at Ballroom Marfa, Manson's turn at The Modern marks her first museum solo; she's also in the prestigious Eagle Collection and Rachofsky Collection at The Warehouse. Fire Up the Grill gallery — a luscious piece with Pop undertones that comments on mortality and memory via nostalgic tropes of the cookout. Ceramic flowers and leaves cascade perilously alongside a barbecue grill bearing a tumultuous swirl of tomatoes, onions, and meat, all rendered in highly glazed porcelain. Through August 25; themodern. org. Catherine D. Anspon P a r d o n i f t h i s s e e m s perfunctory, but your ever- buzzy PaperCity bee doesn't have a lot to report. Alas, as the temperatures reach the triple digits, most have flown the hive for Aspen, East Hampton, Jackson Hole, and other glamorous locales. Retail: It's been an exciting year of openings in Dallas with the recent unveiling of the two-story Chanel boutique (its shoe department rivals that of the Bev Hills outpost) and, earlier this year, the debut of the first Loewe Texas store in Highland Park Village. Our friends over there just shared more exciting news: Chloé opens its first Texas store in HPV this fall. In the meantime, head over to La Vie Style House, which has launched its second collaboration with Cover Swim. Locally designed Cover features sustainable, sun-conscious pieces with UPF 50+ certification blocking … At NorthPark Center, look for Givenchy to open in August. Also at NorthPark, Eiseman Jewels celebrates its 60th anniversary with an exciting reimagining and expansion. The family-owned business will reveal three newly designed adjoining boutiques in January 2025. But no worries if you're in immediate need of wrist candy — you can visit Eiseman's temporary location between Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom on Level One. Epicurious: Georgie has undergone exciting changes, parting ways with celebrity chef Curtis Stone last year and introducing a fresh perspective under the leadership of executive chef RJ Yoakum, formerly with Thomas Keller's acclaimed French Laundry in Napa. Bringing his Michelin background to Dallas, Yoakum has been the new culinary driving force for Georgie, shepherding the menu through an intriguing transformation that departs from the traditional steakhouse theme. After a recent visit and an enchanting chat with the ruggedly handsome Yoakum, we're now part of his fan club. Expect to see us most Friday nights at our usual corner booth, sampling whatever Yoakum sends our way. Summer Fun: At the Dallas Arboretum, check out the "Floral in Fashion" exhibit curated by Annette Becker, director of the Texas Fashion Collection at UNT, at the DeGolyer House. You'll find flowery frocks fit for poolside cocktails at the Maui Four Seasons and edgy Japanese streetwear looks with a touch of floral … Of course, the coolest place for fun is the Galleria Dallas Ice Skating Center. If you're a recent coastal transplant to our little hamlet, here's some background: The rink opened in 1982 with a performance by Olympic champion Dorothy Hamill and has since hosted more Olympic champions and renowned athletes than any other ice- skating venue in Texas. Gather your girl squad in your best triple Axel outfits for TikTok Skate Night on Saturday, July 20, 5 to 7 pm. Or send the kids to one of the rink's summer camps (the next one is July 29 through September 1) … Finally, want to learn something interesting fast? Head over to the Dallas Museum of Art for Art in Thirty, a half-hour journey through our beloved museum's galleries on Friday, July 19, and Friday, August 9, noon to 12:30 pm. It's such a cool idea: Pop out for "lunch," but then come back to the office and impress your colleagues with obscure trivia about a Flemish artiste. Social: There's really nothing to report for your Smythson day planner. Your Buzzy Bee just plans to toss some Tom Ford floral pants in a weekend bag for a clambake in Martha's Vineyard. See you in September, when the charity scene kicks back into party mode. Billy Fong BUZZ 16
