OBSESSIONS. DECORATION. SALIENT FACTS. D allas will always be a destination for retail. Who needs the Internet. We prefer the cardio we get from window shopping — and sometimes the best gossip comes from our favorite shopkeepers. At Highland Park Village, prepare to lay down your black AmEx for the upcoming openings of Khaite and Chloé, both with first stores in Texas. For the uninitiated in luxury fashion houses, the latter was founded in 1952 and showcased free-spirited femininity and effortless style; that spirit continues today under the creative direction of Chemena Kamali. As for Khaite, this will be the fourth brick-and-mortar boutique — after NYC, East Hampton, and Seoul — and will carry the quintessentially cool-girl vibes in ready- to-wear, shoes, handbags, and accessories ... We reached out to our go-to crew at The Conservatory, who were excited to share details about their We Heart NYC pop-up September 18 and 19, with a trunk show featuring designers Jonathan Cohen, Gigi Burris, Alexei Hay, and Selima. Proceeds benefit the Dallas Contemporary Gala. Over at Forty Five Ten in downtown Dallas, we've learned that Mirador, the chic restaurant perched on its top floor, now has a brunch and tea menu for the weekends, in addition to the weekday lunch offerings. We tried the brunch and have two words for you: caviar donut … For those who didn't get the fashionable memo, Forty Five Ten — the boutique with designers we adore such as Jil Sander, Thom Browne, Celine, and Rosie Assoulin — is now open Tuesday through Saturday, 11 am to 5 pm, and Mondays by appointment … And, perhaps the biggest news of the fall, Forty Five Ten will once again carry men's wear — first off Dries Van Noten. Vintage Martini, our preferred purveyors of the coolest of cool vintage and gently handled luxury goods, has moved next door. Greg Kelly and Ken Weber's beloved shop is now adjacent to its brother store, Martini Man, on Henderson. This is always our go-to for finding a YSL tuxedo jacket to throw over the shoulder. In fact, Vintage Martini was named one of the Best Vintage Stores in the World by Vogue this past April. This fall at Stanley Korshak, the team has a full lineup of reasons to come again and again. Don't miss trunk shows for Kiton, September 5 through 7, and one of our favorite boot designers, Miron Crosby, September 12 through 14. Art lovers should catch these personal appearances: Dallas-based sculptor Larry Whiteley with his ironwork home accessories, September 6, and artist Jennifer Troice with ironwork sculptures, September 12 and 13. Finally, if jewelry is top of mind for the fall social season, beloved designer Coomi arrives for a personal appearance and trunk show September 12 through 14. At Grange Hall, you'll see us at happy hour on the first Thursday of each month, starting with the Le Bons Temps-themed event September 5. This happy hour is always the perfect way to start an evening — be sure to wear something in which to get noticed. It can also feel like the high school cafeteria, where you have a quick catch-up sesh with long-lost friends … If dinner is more appropriate than cocktails, make your reservation for Grange Hall's End of Summer supper Saturday, September 21 … During the week of September 23 is a trunk show for Sweethearts of the Rodeo, the charming London-based luxury boot brand founded by former British Vogue fashion editors Charlotte Pilcher and Vanessa Gillingham. Exact date to be announced soon … Keeping that Brit vibe going, UK-born Dallas designer Max Trowbridge hosts Meet the Artists from the "Is It Real" exhibition Tuesday, September 17, noon to 4 pm, in collaboration with her fashion line, Eve & Max. NorthPark Center has a slew of new luxury openings including Etro and Jil Sander, with more boutiques on the horizon. If you missed the opening of the renovated Tiffany & Co. store, make your way there ASAP. It's gorgeous. Targeted to open in September is luxury powerhouse Givenchy. And finally, we've been in constant contact with Miuccia's team, and they plan to debut the Prada boutique — with lots of bells and whistles — October 31. Galleria Dallas also has interesting things in the works. It will be one of two shopping centers in the U.S. to have a Netflix House. The streaming giant recently announced this new entertainment concept, which premieres in Dallas in 2025. You'll find moments from all your bingeable favorites — waltz with your partner in a Bridgerton-inspired vignette after you've completed a challenge similar to one in Squid Game … Check out a fresh spin on the art of play at "Los Trompos" (through September 30), a traveling exhibit created by Héctor Esrawe and Ignacio Cadena, in the Galleria's new outdoor plaza. The interactive sculptures were inspired by an iconic children's toy — the spinning top. Billy Fong Retail Reconnaissance Chloé Fall 2024 Khaite Fall 2024 64
