W ild-child interior designer Sasha Bikoff's new collaboration with Ohio furniture maker Abner Henry is colorful, crafted — and totally unexpected. Inspired by postmodernism and the 1980s Italian design movement Memphis Milano, the 10-piece array includes a hot-pink vanity, geometric bench, and a two- tone wood armoire that opens to an electric blue, red, and yellow interior. Bikoff built the collection around the Eloise vanity, a reinterpretation of postmodernist Michael Graves' iconic Plaza vanity, which references one of Bikoff's favorite childhood books, Eloise at the Plaza. "The designs are very sculptural and go back to the core of what Memphis and postmodernism was about — geometry and shapes," Bikoff says. "They make a statement and are meant to be artful and bold. However, depending on what you finish them in, they can take on a different role." Bikoff first connected with Abner Henry in 2023 while designing a room for the Kips Bay Decorator Show House New York. "What really spoke to me was Abner Henry's technology to create glorious colors and finishes like that of the pieces from the design movements I covet so much," she says. The collection generated lots of buzz at High Point Furniture Market this past spring — Abner Henry also debuted a stunning line for New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art.
