CUPCAKE Move over, wedding cupcakes. A new ceremonial sweet is quietly taking over the town. When social swells Claire and Dwight Emanuelson invited Niven Morgan and Shelby Wagner over for dinner, the Emanuelsons insisted they bring her. When Niven Morgan and Shelby Wagner invited us over, their only request was that we bring her. Who is this most-requested party guest? A Nothing Bundt Cake, of course. Founded in Las Vegas, Nothing Bundt Cakes are — dare I say — better than my Alabama grandmother's, causing one to question how something this sweet and precious could have been born in Sin City. Dallas franchise owners Wendy and Craig Moore's shop in Preston Royal Village offer Bundts in three sizes (eight-inch, 10-inch and minis), nine flavors (think pecan praline, chocolate-chocolate chip, white-chocolate raspberry) and coated in ribbons of perfectly sculpted cream-cheese icing. We suggest serving this well-received attendee — the lemon flavor is idyllic for a spring wedding — as individual desserts at the reception or bridal shower. 10720 Preston Road, in Preston Royal Village, 214.691.2253; nothingbundtcakes.com. Brooke Hortenstine Corinne ELIZABETH LANVIN MAXINE HELFMAN REPLACEMENT STEPHANIE I f you find yourself in need of expert advice concerning your look on a certain big day, hail the professional services of fashion stylist Stephanie Quadri. Yes, that Stephanie Quadri, the former D Magazine style director who made a living dressing gals for bridal editorials in the pages of D Weddings. "I realized," Quadri says, "that real brides who read magazines would love to have access to the looks they saw, so who better to help than a stylist who put those looks together." To address your wedding-day wardrobe aspirations, sit down with Ms. Quadri for a one-on-one, hour-long consultation, then, depending on your exact needs, she'll go to work, securing advance samples and lookbooks. Don't forget your bridal party or honeymoon — Quadri is fully prepared to style your 'maids or suggest breezy pieces perfect for that Grecian getaway. 214.564.2792; stephaniequadri.com. Lauren Mang STYLES TIMELESS STYLE Love is in the air at Cartier. The first new engagement-ring design in five years, the Cartier D'Amour collection continues the French house's tradition of working with platinum (after all, Cartier was the first jeweler to master the metal). The solitaire is set in a micro-pavé setting that's both modern and sleek — and intended to awe from every angle. Pair it with a pavé band; options vary from platinum to every hue of gold. Engagement rings from $3,550; full-diamond-pavé bands from $3,250, at the Cartier boutique. Laurann Claridge PAST-ERA PATTERNS For his latest crystal creations, designer William Yeoward looked to screen sirens of the '20s and '30s for his inspirational muses. The American Bar glassware collection debuts this month, with patterns named after Hollywood starlets such as Corinne, Dakota, Greta, Lillian and Marlene. With an Art Deco feel to all five patterns, the price points reflect a bygone era as well: from $21 for a Corinne shot glass to $150 for a Lillian cocktail jug. At Madison, Neiman Marcus. Short of buying yet another dress destined to gather dust, what are you to do? Rent it. Yes, renttherunway.com, the brainchild of two Harvard MBAs (women, naturally), is essentially the Netflix of dress renting. The site allows you to choose an outfit for any occasion from more than 150 top international designers. We think the concept lends itself best to bridesmaid dresses. For example, you can rent a Roksanda Ilincic silk column gown (retail: $2,300) for just $300 for four days. Or perhaps the bride would like to see you in a little Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti cocktail dress (retail $895), renting for $125. Confused about sizing? Never fear, two sizes will be sent, just in case you guessed wrong. The renttherunway.com buyers purchase a wealth of inventory, so even if you have a party of 10, you'll likely find all the dresses you need for the weekend you desire. Then when the proverbial clock strikes midnight, pack it back into the prepaid envelope and deposit it in any post-office mailbox. Dress rentals from $40, accessory rentals from $10, at renttherunway.com. Laurann Claridge Moschino Cheap & Chic GOING TO THE CHAPEL One can rent Rolls-Royces, diamonds and even gowns for that picture-perfect day. Now chapels and sanctuaries have joined those leasable ranks via the Web site rentmychurch.com. The Dallas-based site boasts a savvy, mightily detailed search engine for brides and grooms seeking the holiest of ceremony and reception venues. There are even checkboxes for those with discerning requirements. Alcohol allowed? Check. Outside minister permitted? Check. Outdoor space and catering on hand? Check and check. As for the Rolodex of churches listed for hire, they range from as far away as Anchorage, Alaska, to as close as our own Lovers Lane. All that's left to say is 'I do.' rentmychurch.com.
