MONDAY, DECEMBER 30. The rehearsal dinner was at Morandi, a rustic Italian trattoria on Waverly Place, hosted by friends. DECEMBER 31 – THE BIG NIGHT. Following a champagne reception in Bemelmans Bar at The Carlyle, the party decamped en masse for The Glasshouses in the Chelsea Arts Tower for cocktails and dinner, via white coaches. "We consider ourselves modern," Todd says, "but we're traditionalists at heart. We love a formal dining table with embroidered linens. We wanted the dinner venue to feel like a classic supper club with the orchestra in black and white, with strings and a horn section." The Rhythm Collective from Elan Entertainment filled that bill, with singers who had the night off from their regular roles in Motown, Les Misérables and The Lion King. "These kids just killed it," Todd exclaims. "I could not stop crying when I walked into the dining room that night," remembers Ceron. "Every detail was stunning: the embroidered napkins, the china and crystal, the staging and cake, the printed menu, the registration book!" THE CEREMONY. The ceremony began at a very civilized 10:30, après a stunning five-course dinner with Dom Pérignon on free pour. Marcy Blum, a well-known NY event designer, who was also the officiate, performed the ceremony. Todd and Ceron wrote the vows, and each bridesmaid read a portion. The room was very Mad Men sparkling in black, cream and gold. WHO WERE YOU WEARING? Todd: Tom Ford, of course. Cartier Trinity ring. Shoes: Barneys New York velvet slippers. Cuff links: antique cameos from Grange Hall. Ceron: Ditto, Tom Ford. Cartier Trinity ring. Shoes: Jimmy Choo. Cuff links: antique pink diamonds from Grange Hall. AFTER THE VOWS. Guests returned to the 21st floor, where the registry was a large book with each guest depicted in a charming watercolor portrait in their sartorial best. Guests penned thoughts on "their" page, and the book became a treasured memory. A mariachi band greeted as the elevator doors opened, and DJ Tiger Lily kept everyone dancing. In addition to champagne, trays of mini-margaritas were served in individual Patron tequila bottles topped with corks and tiny straws. HAPPY NEW YEAR! At midnight, the newlyweds made a donation to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. A chorus line of top-hatted dancers performed "New York, New York" before the couple departed at 2 am New Year's Day. Swifty's on the Upper East Side was the location for a classic American brunch, and later a smaller group of family and friends gathered for old-school Chinese food at Shun Lee West near Lincoln Center. "One of my favorite party designers, Ed Libby, did the decor as a gift to us," says Todd. "It was a completely over-the-top Chinese extravaganza complete with drag queens in full-on geisha attire. It was a blast!" BEST SURPRISE. Ceron: "Finding mariachis in New York on New Year's Eve. It was the one thing I really wanted. It's not a boda without mariachis." Todd: "How easy and peaceful it was. I had a smile on my face the entire time!" Ceron: "So many people said to us, 'Save the money and buy a house!' I'm so glad we didn't listen and had this wedding celebration. The memories are priceless." THE HONEYMOONERS. On January 2, Todd and Ceron left for an epic journey to Japan and Thailand. Todd: "That was a milestone for us — the first time we both have taken a full month off! We laughed so hard … this was the only place that neither of us had ever been. We wanted to go somewhere that was new to us, and Ceron has been everywhere!"
