Meet Me in Rio P eacock feathers shimmered in all their glory as far as the eye could see when guests arrived at Rio Carnival … A Night in La Cidade Maravilhosa … The Marvelous City, hosted by the Junior League of Dallas. Patrons packed the Hilton Anatole for the 52nd ball — a night of masquerading, cocktails, exotic cuisine and carnival music. The ballroom was elaborately transformed into a Sambadrome with a sea of purple and green lights, offset with yellow plumes and, of course, masks for the masking. Dolled up as Carmen Miranda, dancers performed the samba across the dance floor as ball chairman Wendy Messmann and JLD prez Laura Johnson welcomed guests. Post feast, JLD supporters partied Brazilian style to the musical tunes of fellow Texan Bob Schneider, who offered up a Brazilian beat. Feeling festive: Heather Roberts, Julie Bagley, and Boyd Messmann.
