Those words were spoken by legendary designer Diane von Furstenberg to console a tearful contestant eliminated from her E! reality series, House of DVF. To salute the series, PaperCity co-hosted a VIP styling event at the DVF boutique in Highland Park Village with the show's style stars: DVF creative brand director Stefani Greenfield and style editor Jessica Joffe, along with Amanda Schauer, one of the hopefuls competing to become DVF's brand ambassador. On a Sunday morning, guests enjoyed mimosas and brunch bites from catering whiz Lisa Garza as they flipped through von Furstenberg's latest tome, Journey of a Dress, then took their seats next door at the Village Theatre for a private pre-screening of the third episode, which would air later that evening. Mini popcorn bags stamped with the House of DVF logo eased their immersion into the nail-biting world of reality TV. Afterwards, Greenfield, Joffe and Schauer discussed the juicy details in an intimate Q&A, followed by a little retail therapy at the boutique, with a 20 percent discount for all. GLAM SQUAD The Joule Hotel was the hot spot for the launch of beGlammed — an on-demand service and smartphone app that promises the latest in beauty trends. Hosting the fashionable fête were bloggers Lynsey Eaton (Tomboy KC) and Devon Dyer (Devon Rachel), who divulged details on beGlammed alongside industry veterans and co-founders Jocelyn Loo, Maile Pacheco and Rebby Gregg. While DJ Lucy Wrubel mixed her magic turntables, guests beautified themselves at the braid and lip bars, tutored by the team's hair and makeup stylists. Sitting pretty: Meghan Looney, Ali Bronska, Lynn McBee, Alexandra Amodio, Leisa Street, Sunie Solomon, and Anne Stodgill. LEARNING HOW Wellness is the mantra for fitness guru and tastemaker Marisa Howard, who recently launched marhow.net, a lifestyle blog offering fresh perspectives on how to live a holistic, happy and healthy life. Howard welcomed family and friends to a kickoff celebration on the terrace of The Joule Hotel with Deep Eddy cocktails flowing and a trunk show of local businesses and products including Leeny's Flowers; Abi Paige, a cashmere collection by Abi Ferrin and Paige Lane; Laura Pierson jewelry; and Susie Straubmueller handbags. A portion of proceeds from sales benefitted Seeds of Africa, a nonprofit near and dear to Howard's heart. Feeling inspired: Atti Worku, Amanda Henson, Bob Hixson, Leah Fisher, Kari Kloewer, and Tom Cole. LUCKY NUMBER SEVEN Denim makers 7 For All Mankind introduced the #7obsession campaign, which likens a woman's obsession with her jeans to an intense relationship between a man and a woman. For this venture, 7 For All Mankind partnered with Texas natives Tori Gonzales and Desiree Cox, sisters who created a capsule collection for their jewelry brand, All The Wire, to complement the denim. Shoppers swarmed to the NorthPark Center boutique to get their hands on the exclusive new collab while supplies lasted. You could say they were … obsessed.
