AS TOLD TO LINDEN WILSON. PHOTOGRAPHY LINDSEY BRITTAIN AND KAT HARRIS. A lmost three years to the day after an accident that forever changed her life, Lauren Scruggs married the man of her dreams. Had it not been for said accident, she might have never met him. The fashion blogger (lolomag. com), who grew up in Dallas and interned at Michael Kors in New York and in the wardrobe department of Gossip Girl, was introduced to E! News cohost Jason Kennedy after his colleague Giuliana Rancic interviewed Lauren about surviving that fateful moment in 2011. "I remember thinking he was so genuine and really easy to talk to," Lauren says. A friendship rooted in faith quickly blossomed to romance, with Jason proposing May 30, 2014, standing beneath the balcony of Lauren's Dallas apartment among candles that spelled out "Will you marry me?" ON THE IMPORTANCE OF MARRYING IN DALLAS. I consider it my lifelong home. It has such a meaningful place in my heart, and the love that was poured out on me after my accident was life changing. Dallas was also a good halfway point between California (Jason's home) and Florida (where he is from). WEDDING-DRESS SHOPPING AND TEARS. Stanley Korshak was my first place to try on dresses, and it was such a fast find unintentionally. I tried on about eight gowns, narrowed it down to two, and then my mind kept thinking about the Romona Keveza. I tried it on again and couldn't stop crying. I am not a highly emotional person, so I knew it was the one. BEAUTIFUL GOWN X TWO. I wasn't planning on having a second, but shortly after we hired Todd Fiscus to plan our wedding, he suggested that Nardos Imam make my gown. I had already chosen the Romona Keveza dress, but Nardos still kindly reached out and told me to come visit her beautiful studio. Within minutes of walking in, she and I both looked at the light pink dress on the mannequin, knowing I had to try it on. It was so dreamy! My experience that day was so delightful that when my mom [Cheryl, who wore a dress by Imam as well] asked about it, I had a hard time compiling words to accurately describe it. The heart Nardos puts into creating is so touching. She is a rare gem and personalizes every design to make it the most perfect dress — she lowered the back of my dress and added a big bow on the waist. We have formed a precious friendship, and I can't wait to work with her more in the future! THE TODD FISCUS EFFECT. This sounds kind of crazy, but I only came to Dallas one time between our engagement and our wedding. What you saw [on the couple's E! wedding special, The Kennedy Wedding: Jason and Lauren Get Married] was the majority of my experience minus the hundreds of emails that were exchanged in the planning process. Todd and [senior event planner] Angela made everything so easy that sometimes I forgot we were planning a wedding. I was constantly impressed by their creativity and organization. FAVORITE MOMENT. It's so hard to narrow it down because we both enjoyed every part of the night. Overall, I loved that our friend groups were mixing, that everyone was in total party mode (crowd surfing was in full effect), and it was humbling to have so many close friends and family celebrating alongside us. A MAGICAL MARRIAGE LAUREN SCRUGGS+JASON KENNEDY FRIDAY, DECEMBER 12, 2014 Dallas fashion blogger and close friend Amy Havins embraces Lauren during the dinner reception. Jason inked "Lo," Lauren's nickname, on his right-hand ring finger, in honor of his bride. Ring bearer: Tony and Candice Romo's son, Hawkins, struts down the aisle.
