STILETTOS STRUT THEIR STUFF More than 500 shoe worshipers attended the Neiman Marcus Stiletto Strut and Luncheon to raise more than $400,000 toward breast cancer research at the Lester and Sue Smith Breast Center at Baylor College of Medicine. Chair Tricia Georgiou, alongside co-chairs Trish Hayes and Megan Hotze, welcomed guests with a champagne reception at Neiman's that saluted honorary chairs Jane and Ed Parker and presenting sponsor Sterling Relocation's Denay Sanders- Bennett. Luncheon guests then hoofed it from the store, down the mall to the Westin Hotel ballroom for the luncheon and fashion show — thus, the name Stiletto Strut. Included in the program were seven cancer survivors: Shelly Bain, Charlayne Collins, Monique Flores, Lucy Raster, Lisa Reed, Mari Rude, and Jane Parker. Lester Smith, namesake of the Breast Center, presented Dr. C. Kent Osborne with the inaugural C. Kent Osborne Award for Medical Excellence. Well-heeled: Judy and Glenn Smith, Cora Sue and Harry Mach, Emily Sedgwick, Lucinda Loya, Donae Chramosta, Jenee Stefanakis, and Mary Ann McKeithan. MEN'S TRENDS + FRIENDS Long-time NM customers Alton LaDay and Jonathon Glus welcomed more than 200 fashionable acolytes to the Fall Men's Trend Event, held in honor of the Human Rights Campaign and Federal Club Council Houston. Neiman Marcus PR guru Stacey Swift kicked off the runway rundown of seasonal men's trends, while DJ Martin Prendergast spun the tunes. Neiman's main man, GM Bob Devlin, greeted local designer Steve Guthrie, Armani rep Martin Pashuck, Mark Horn, 2015 Human Rights Campaign Gala chair Rodney Morris, and Philomena and Arthur Baird. AN ENCHANTING EVE FOR FEED Later that evening, an intimate alfresco dinner party benefitted Miz Lauren's own cause — FEED, which provides much-needed meals for children around the world, and has recently added an American emphasis. The setting was the beautiful home of Sabiha and Omar Rehmatulla, who set up a global buffet catered by Lori Farris from Arcodoro restaurant and Scott Moorman, co-owner of Event Elementz, while guests gathered 'round a long, long table in the garden to enjoy a communal meal and raise funds for the cause. LBL (as her pals call her) was in a simple black frock designed by father-in-law Ralph Lauren and accessorized by FEED beaded jewelry. On the stairway of the casa, she was introduced by dad Neil Bush, and movingly spoke of the millions of kids FEED has fed since its founding in 2007. True believers: Leslie Robinson, Laura Greenberg with her daughter Ava, Monsour Taghdisi and Henry Richardson, Melissa and Michael Mithoff, Betty and John Hrncir, Maria Bush, Sima Ladjevardian, Paige Fertitta, Laura and Bentley Fondren, Catherine and Cenk Ozdogan, Gary Petersen, and LBL's brother, Pierce Bush, executive vice president of the Houston chapter of Big Brothers Big Sisters. Christie Sullivan chaired the notable daytime benefit, yet again cleverly set upon the stage of Jones Hall and impeccably catered by Jackson and Company. Melissa Mithoff presided as honorary chair for the afternoon that saluted power arts advocates/attorneys Melanie Gray and Mark Wawro; Gray serves as SPA's board chair. The couple received the Ann Sakowitz Performing Arts Award for their commitment to SPA, receiving a pin and cuff links designed by DeVille Fine Jewelry, one of the day's underwriters. Miz Lauren eloquently addressed the crowd of 300 about the impact of performing arts in her own life, while stylish supporters rapturously applauded.
