Photography Jenny Antill Clifton. H ouston Antiques + Art + Design Show had a lot to celebrate — a new name, a new venue, and a new opening night party. The more-than-50-year-old vaunted show, formerly known as HADA, attracts not just antiquarians, but also the interior design and art communities, and secured industri- al-chic Silver Street Studios in the Washington Avenue Arts District to represent its evolving clientele. Hundreds of collectors flocked to the preview party, benefitting Preservation Houston. Rosemary Krieger and Gordon Merkle of Dolphin Promotions (which produces HAADS and other antique and design shows nationwide, including Palm Springs Modernism) mingled with designers, while architect Shane Cook relayed tales of frantically sourcing art, fabric, and acces- sories that week to finish a 525-square-foot show home, part of the Dwell Magazine Monogram Modern Home Tour, stationed in front of Silver Street and open for tours as part of the HAADS show. Architect Victoria Goldstein and her firm VG Studios underwrote the preview party, where chef Monica Pope served up delectable bites, Domaine Bousquet poured vino, and patrons shopped dealers such as Antiques of River Oaks and David Lackey Antiques & Art.
