T he John Staub-designed mansion Rienzi swarmed with black-tie sophistication for the Rienzi Society Dinner, the annual benefit for the storied venue — aka the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston's mu- seum of European decorative arts and paintings. The Palladian-style home in the heart of River Oaks was be- queathed to the museum by Exxon heiress Carol Sterling Masterson and Harris Masterson III. Her daughter, Isla Reckling is a life member of the Rienzi Society, and a stalwart of the annual dinner. As it happened, it was also Reckling's birthday, so a double celebration was in order. Each year, per tradition, members cast their ballots for the purchase of a much-desired artwork from a selection presented by Rienzi curators. On this evening, chaired by Melissa and Doug Schnitzer and Mary Eliza and Park Shaper, the vote went to the Terrestrial Globe, circa 1790. SHARING AIR KISSES: Rienzi director Christine Gervais, MFAH director Gary Tinterow, Rose Cullen, Pat Breen, Cyvia and Melvyn Wolff, Ann Trammell, Judy and Charles Tate, and Reckling family members Tommy Reckling, Christiana and Luke McConn III, Carroll Goodman, Angie and John Reckling, Christiana Reckling, and James Reckling.
