60 ART + DECORATION ART OF DECONSTRUCTION MAD ABOUT D esigner Miles Redd's d e b u t f a b r i c a n d wallpaper collection for Schumacher took the industry by storm a year and a half ago; Deconstructed Stripe has become the designer go-to pattern, appearing everywhere from kitchen curtains to nursery gliders and Louis Philippe dining chairs. Redd and Schumacher quickly began collaborating on a second collection, which includes Madame de Pompadour, a stunning chinoiserie wall covering originally drawn to scale on French canvas and comprised of two 12-foot panels; Harlequin, a small-scale ikat perfect for coordinating with other fabrics; Dogwood Leaf, a cheery cotton botanical, created by Schumacher's in-house designer Hillary Pharr and based on a collage Redd made from an antique botanical illustration he had in his home; and Safari, a linen applique inspired by African kuba cloth. From Redd's first collection, the chinoiserie wallpaper Brighton Pavilion (created by one of Europe's premier engravers based on a rare 18th-century document) gets a bright new emerald colorway, while Cubist (a geometric fabric design of silk taffeta, stitched together in nonrepeating 96-inch panels) is reborn in blush. Anne Lee Phillips F ounded 430 years ago, Saint-Louis' hand-cut, engraved, 24K gold and platinum decorated goblets and stems are among the most opulent in the world. But for those who crave the simple side of luxe, Saint- Louis contemporary lighting reduces a chandelier or lamp to its most basic elements, such as crystal drops or swooping arms. Enter Saule, created by Saint-Louis designer Ionna Vautrin, with solid crystal rods that are coiled and twisted — the essential element of St. Louis' more lavish chandelier designs. Made to order, Saule floor lamps, pendants, and table lamps come in clear and flannel. $6,300 to $19,600, to order at Forty Five Ten, River Oaks District, 4444 Westheimer Road, 281.560.4510, fortyfiveten.com; through Saint-Louis Crystal, 855.240.9740, saint-louis.com.
