12 letter publisher ANNE LAHO A pril is bustling with events from fashion, art, and design. One of the most dynamic partnerships kicking off this month is PaperCity's inaugural corporate outreach initiative with Houston-based Direct Energy, one of the premier energy providers in the country. Direct Energy has long been on the forefront of charitable giving with its Give Brighter campaign, which, for each plan activated, sends a solar-powered Luci light, created by Direct Energy's co-partner MPOWERD, to a family or business in need in a developing country. PaperCity is proud and honored to partner with Direct Energy in support of the wonderful initiatives that the company has developed both locally and nationally. And, while energy will be kicking off the month and carrying us through the fall, art and design are an integral part of the PaperCity DNA and always the focus of the April issue, in both Houston and Dallas. In Houston, the 2017 PaperCity Design Awards take place Monday, May 15, with the entry deadline Sunday, April 16. For those of you who have not submitted your projects, please do! For more information, go to papercitymag.com/designawards. And, not to be missed is the inaugural Texas Design Week, May 15 through 19. For the full schedule of designer personal appearances, book signings, salon talks, keynote addresses, go to pages 68 and 69 of this issue and texasdesignweek.com. If Dallas is on your list of places to visit in the immediate future, now is the time: The ninth annual Dallas Art Fair runs Friday through Sunday, April 7 through 9, at FIG (Fashion Industry Gallery), with art dealers and galleries from around the world. Something I'm personally looking forward to later this month is my biannual trip to New York to meet with our fabulous fashion, jewelry, and design advertisers and partners — leaving a few minutes for a quick run through of Barneys and Bergdorf's, of course.
