C hampagne corks popping. What a beauti- ful sound … Such was the soundtrack for the evening that saluted designer Naeem Khan in the home of John and Becca Cason Thrash. Krug Champagne's Vincent Pages brought in bubbly by the case, ensuring that none among the 80 dinner guests — whom he described as "the coolest people in Houston" — would go wanting. Think magnums and jeroboams and top vintages — Krug Grande Cuvé e 156th edition, Krug 1998, Krug Clos du Mesnil 2003. The evening was a nod to the partnership between Naeem Khan and Krug; swank dinner parties are the signature of the heady association. As Khan explained: "My dear friend Becca and my favorite thing, Krug. It's a combination of the two. It can't get better." On this only-the-best-will-do evening, Krug tapped James Beard Award-winning chef Tyson Cole of Uchi to create the menu and brought in Grammy-winning jazz singer/songwriter Gregory Porter to perform musical interludes throughout the night.
