10 letter publisher ANNE LAHO uly marks the middle of summer — the time when everyone is well into their groove and enjoying the long days and warm nights. Our double issue highlights some of the best events from the past few months, specifically the arts — including the annual galas for the Rothko Chapel, Blaffer Art Museum, and Art League Houston. This month, we're highlighting Mexico, from the spectacular Mexico-inspired fashion feature to our must-do guide to Mexico City and, lastly, a place close to my own heart: the Baja of Mexico. My 2006 wedding was to take place in San Jose del Cabo — until Hurricane John swooped in, causing our nuptials to be canceled and an immediate evacuation — all with wedding guests in tow. Thankfully, my husband and I were still able to exchange vows that same weekend stateside, with the help of family and our fabulous turn-on-a-dime wedding planner from Belle of the Ball. And the rest is history. My husband and I still return to Cabo quite often — all trips, hurricane-free — and our next visit will definitely include a trip down the Baja to Todos Santos, for a stay at the brand-new and super-chic Hotel San Cristobal, featured in this issue. I hope everyone enjoys the last days of summer with family and friends. See you in September. Monica Bailey Bickers Publisher monica@papercitymag.com J
