80 NET-A-PORTER x PaperCity THE HEADY BUSINESS OF BIJOUX B rowse the fine jewelry collections on NET-A- PORTER, and exquisite baubles from Tiffany & Co., Piaget, Buccellati, IWC Schaffhausen, Ana Khouri, and Yeprem sparkle across the screen. Delicate pieces such as Tiffany's 18K gold infinity earrings ($475) and a white-gold IWC watch with sleek alligator strap and 174 glittering diamonds ($28,700) are from noted jewelry houses that, until collaborating with NET-A-PORTER, had never strolled the vaporous halls of a global online retail site. If they offered e-commerce, it was only via their own sites. As the world's premier online luxury fashion destination, NET-A-PORTER's partnerships with these exclusive brands are a significant coup. Sophie Quy, NET-A-PORTER's Senior Buyer of Fine Jewelry, is at the helm of these star acquisitions. A graduate of the London College of Fashion, Quy has had a long career as a jewelry buyer for NET-A-PORTER. Her deep relationships with luxury jewelry and timepiece brands are the catalyst for landing such megawatt collaborations. "Through my years working at NET- A-PORTER, I've learned to home in on what our customers in each region are looking for, which price points work, and what stones they favor so we can tailor the edit to ensure we are delivering the most exciting pieces. We respect each brand's designs and business, and we make sure they are pleased with how their brand is translated on-site." For the first time in its history, storied Swiss manufacturer IWC began offering presales for its new Da Vinci watch collection on NET-A-PORTER in January. Italian jeweler Buccellati followed suit in March, launching 22 styles from its Macri, Hawaii, and Rombi collections crafted in the Buccellati family's Milan atelier. (At $42,720, its Macri 18K yellow- and white-gold diamond cuff is an inimitable thing of beauty.) Swiss label Piaget debuted its colorful Possession collection on NET-A-PORTER in April, a range of ornate rings, necklaces, and bracelets plus two diamond-encrusted timepieces — one in white gold and the other, rose gold. One of the grandest achievements for NET-A-PORTER occurred in May, when it partnered with Cartier on a pop-up shop offering the Cartier Panthère watch collection — the first time the French brand had sold its products on an e-commerce destination other than cartier.com. Inspired by the iconic Cartier Panthère from the 1980s, 14 timepieces ranging from $4,000 to $123,000 were available between May 2 and May 31, accompanied by sleek media content produced exclusively for NET-A-PORTER to promote the collaboration. In June, the watches launched on Cartier's website and in brick-and-mortar shops. Talk about being first to the punch. Inside NET-A-PORTER's game-changing, exclusive collaborations with some of the world's finest names in jewelry and timepieces.
