As known for his worldly glam aesthetic as he is for his A-list client roster (Cher, Ellen Pompeo, Tommy Hilfiger), the L.A.-based British designer debuts a collection with Perennials. The 28 vibrant prints are laced with his trademark ikats, paisleys, Eastern architectural patterns, and mosaic motifs. "It's a marvelous collection that blends ethnic moments with my contemporary point of view," he says. "Think Palm Springs mid- century vibe with African and Indian influences." Bullard's history with Perennials, which he calls "chic and tremendously durable," is long, as he's used the high-performance fabrics in his projects for years. Even more fun is seeing founder Bailey McCarthy's trademark patterns applied to other products. Now McCarthy has partnered with New York's Dempsey & Carroll, stationery engravers since 1878, for notecard sets. A classic flat card on fine cotton-fiber paper has a colored border that complements with one of six Biscuit prints on the envelope liner. Anne Lee Phillips Marfa stationery, Biscuit for Dempsey & Carroll Japanese designer Kenzo Takada has created a spirited collection of fabrics for Roche Bobois' modular Mah Jong sofa. Designed in 1970 by Hans Hopfer, the Mah Jong has been dressed for decades by some of the world's top fashion designers, including Missoni and Jean-Paul Gaultier. Kenzo's No Gaku collection references Japanese culture, with patterns and colors interpreted from ancient kimonos. As always, the Mah Jong is entirely stitched by hand.
