By Christina Geyer Photography Jonathan Zizzo I must confess: I broke all book-signing etiquette when interior designer Miles Redd came to town to sign copies of his bestseller, The Big Book of Chic (Assouline), and debut his new collections for Schumacher at the latter's Dallas Design Center showroom. Yes, I brought my own treasured copy — a fi rst edition, as the darling and dapper Redd pointed out with a smile while gracing my book with his signature. You see, The Big Book of Chic is as popular as ever, even fi ve years after its debut. For this event, which took place barely a month before the next printing would be released, barely a dozen copies were available for on- the-spot purchase. Talk about a hot, stylish commodity, so the crowd queued to pre-order an inscribed-by-Redd copy. Schumacher and Patterson Flynn Martin creative director Dara Caponigro (who has her own book, The Authentics: A Lush Dive into the Substance of Style), along with PaperCity's co-owner and editor in chief Holly Moore, were in for the event, joining a packed house of style and design types including Schumacher's James Campbell, and guests Mimi Crume Sterling, Shelly Rosenberg, Sam Saladino, Preston Evans, Brad Kelly, Luis Araujo, Jan Showers, Alison Gross, Janet Gridley, PaperCity's Monica Bickers, and John Phifer Marrs. Caponigro then spirited Redd away for a designer-fueled dinner at Oak restaurant. of Luis Araujo, Colletta Conner, Frank Harker Mimi Crume Sterling Miles Redd, Miriana Andreeva Miles Redd, Dara Caponigro Robert Ozarow, Kathy Brooks, Meaders Ozarow, Sam Saladino Denise McGaha John Phifer Marrs James Campbell Miles Redd Jan Showers Katherine Woodall Alison Gross
