28 ART ON THE BLOCK A rt for Advocacy has come a long way since its debut 11 years ago. What was once a small cocktail party and silent auction to benefit Dallas Children's Advocacy Center is now one of the social season's hottest tickets, thanks to a spectacular art auction. A record number packed into General Datatech for the event, with chairman Courtney and Jeff Sinelli leading the charge. The massive warehouse was converted into an art space with hundreds of works up for silent and live auctions, donated by the city's top galleries and artists. Barry Whistler donated works from Lilly Albritton, Scott Barber, Linnea Glatt and Cassandra Black; Cris Worley brought in a piece by Isabelle du Toit; and other auction lots came from Craighead Green Gallery, Erin Cluley Gallery, Talley Dunn Gallery, Valley House Gallery and Sculpture Garden, Conduit Gallery, and Photographs Do Not Bend. In the live auction, pieces by Lucrecia Waggoner, JD Miller, and Maxine Helfman sparked their fair share of bidding wars, but Ashley Longshore's Audrey with Japanese Magnolias and Gold Leaf, 2017, proved the evening's top lot.
