30 W hen Reed Krakoff took over as chief artistic officer of Tiffany & Co. a little over a year ago, his mantra was modern, utilitarian, irreverence. He had dipped his toe in the Tiffany- blue waters during the holiday season of 2017, where he was brought in as design collaborator to freshen and expand home objects. This he did with his witty reinterpretation of the classic diner coffee cup, tin cans, balls of twine, and crimped paper plates — all reimagined in sterling silver and Tiffany blue. Krakoff has now launched his first fine jewelry collection for Tiffany, named Paper Flowers for the ephemeral nature of such a material. He calls the jewels flowers of the imagination, as though each petal was cut from paper and magically strung together. In the translation into jewelry, the petals are pinned in a free- flowing pattern, from a bib necklace set with 68 carats of diamonds, to cluster petal rings and a firefly rendered in yellow and white diamonds.
