29 I t's said that planning for The Eye Ball begins a year in advance, with extensive meetings ded- icated to all the meticulous details; everything from party bites to entertainment to bathroom decor is discussed at length. The women behind the scenes are the ones making the magic, and after this year's Eye Ball, I must say: Headington Companies' Jeny Bania and Swoon the Studio's Sam Sano and Joslyn Taylor win top marks for brilliant party planning. A few weeks after The Eye Ball, I put on a T-shirt that was given as a parting gift that night. Suddenly, I noticed the shirt change from bubble-gum pink to white. These genius gals had designed color-changing tees, on point with the '80s. It was the exclamation point on an evening with no end to perfect details: Bartenders looked like Ken dolls, with parachute pants and midriff-baring crop tops; cocktails were served in neon-colored roadie cups with lids and bendy straws; party bites included '80s faves, from sliders and French fries to Jiffy Pop served late night; bathrooms were covered in bubble-gum pink everything (even the toilet paper was a shade of Pepto- Bismol); and an entire bubble-gum set was staged as a backdrop for MotusRed's 3-D photo booth. As for the fashion creations Jan Strimple was working on a few weeks prior? They were on crimped-hair models dancing as if it were 1981.
