letter publisher STEVEN VISNEAU, SISTERBROTHER MGMT 16 T here are many facets of my position at PaperCity that I love — but in all honesty, writing this note each month has been one of the more challenging tasks. To produce the letter requires a good deal of classical music, self-motivation, and, in the end, a bit of tidying up by Christina Geyer, our Dallas editor in chief. This letter is particularly tough to pen, as it's my last one — and it carries a heartfelt farewell. After nearly six years with PaperCity, my first three spent in Houston and the last three in Dallas, my final days with the magazine and in Texas are drawing near. As I move on to my next chapter, our Dallas office will officially welcome its new publisher, Hillery Stack, on June 20. Stack joins PaperCity from New York, fresh to Texas with tenure at The New York Times, Marie Claire and Harry Winston. She will arrive just in time to ring in the magazine's 20th anniversary this fall — and I am confidently leaving our team and clients in great hands. There are many layers to the decision to leave. But, in part, I find the mountains and my family calling me back west. Before moving this summer, and just as this issue hits stands, I'll be trekking in faraway mountains, exploring the Swiss Alps and hoping fresh air brings forth clarity and inspiration. As I think about about my time at the magazine, I would be remiss to not mention the honor it has been to work with a team of such dedicated, passionate, and extremely talented individuals — people who also happen to be quite fun. I also find myself grateful for the opportunity to have worked with a roster of diverse clients, spanning Houston to Dallas. Every month, the dynamic and hardworking people behind these companies have placed their trust in me and in the PaperCity brand; it's a responsibility that has been rewarding in so many ways. In the end, though, what makes this a bittersweet goodbye is the cherished friendships I've formed along the way, both with colleagues and clients. May yours be a summer of exploration, growth, and beautiful new beginnings. Briana Buxbaum Dallas Publisher briana@papercitymag.com
