8 letter editor HUNT SLONEM W ith 2019 officially here, we are moving forward with special proj- ects at PaperCity. The first of the year is always the social calendar, with 114 charitable and entertain- ing events, from January through June, listed in one reference guide — a blueprint for where you need to be this spring. Meghan West, with the assistance of Catherine Anspon and Shelby Hodge, track year round of all the Save the Dates that come our way, and mans the myriad phone calls and emails from readers inquiring if a certain date is "free," so that they can slot in their own soirée. See the 10-page portfolio beginning on page 58. Next project up is the annual PaperCity Design Awards, which kicks off Texas Design Week Houston. March 25-29 are the dates, see pages 10 and 47 for details. In a nutshell, the Design Awards judges and TXDW appear- ances (as of press deadline) include Bunny Williams, Design Awards judge and speaker, in conjunction with Flower mag- azine and Design in Bloom at The Houston Design Center; Martina Sartogo, founder of Cabana magazine, will speak and sign books at Moxie; Hutton Wilkinson of Tony Duquette is master of ceremonies of the Design Awards; and Jamie Drake and Caleb Anderson of Drake Anderson will also speak; with much more to come. Enter your design projects at designawards.papercitymag.com, and check back often to see the updated TXDW schedule as we add great names in design, texasdesignweek.com. As I write this, it's December 17, and this is the final page of the January issue. I'm off to shop for the holidays, welcome my son home from college, and take my daughter to get her driver's license. The best projects of all are family. We wish you a healthy and happy 2019!
